***ABBS News****
Heather Williams here on the south side of Akebon near the campus of AkebonoBambusa University. Earlier this past weekend this was the site of a large blast that many of its implications are still being felt. The university is one of the main research centers for AkebonoBabusan microbiology scientists. The blast blew out one of the walls to that very lab. Both the University and the Government insist that nothing could have survived the blast so is not considering any decontamination procedures for the cleanup. There were several witnesses that claim that the blast followed the swift departure of 3-5 men from the building. It has been speculated that the bomb blast was a diversion from the real crime, theft of biological material. Of course the government will not comment on this.
::The scene changes to that of an overhead view of smoke rising out of a forest.
The explosion at the University by itself is unsettling but the when you combine it with the satellites that fell from the sky today you have a remakable set of coincidences. Today 2 of the newly launched Kimmei satellites fell from the sky into, thankfully, uninhabited regions of AkebonoBambusa. It seems that one of the many controlling stations that are scattered accross the country was bombed and the satellites simply just lost orbit and fell back to the earth.
::The scene switches back to Heather Williams
It is the opinion of this investigator that these two events seperated by two days are very much connected with one another. We are only left to wonder if they are connected to the recent military buildup in the north of the SNQ or something entirely different. Only time will answer these questions.

::Archibald Energy Reactor Complex, thirty miles west of Stachys City, AkebonoBambusa. Barras works in Facility No. 4.
It was a rainy evening that night as Barras was just finishing his dinner break at the reactor facility. The rain was expected this time of year just inside the southern coast of AkebonoBambusa. Barras hadn’t been with Archibald for very long, “Perhaps six months”, he thought. He had really just gotten used to the routine of everything. First you walk around this building, then check all the doors, make sure the loading dock is locked, all routine.
He got up from the table in the lunchroom to get ready to leave for the second half of his shift, and noticed a box of donuts. He remembered them from yesterday so he figured that they were quite old. It didn’t faze him in the least and he grabbed one for the road. As the door closed behind him the last thing you could see was “Security” written in yellow on his back.
Half way down the hall he decided that he was going to go and check on a leaking valve that he found yesterday. “You always have to check up on maintenance”, he thought to himself. Just then the alarm sounds with its incessant blaring. He quickly checked his radio to call in his location but found it not working. It appeared to be jammed. Running towards the nearest exit he decided that the best course of action would be to secure the door. As he got closer he was able to see a helicopter idling on the pavement that surrounded the complex. When he got to the door he pulled his pistol and with all the gusto that a young security guard could muscle, he ran out the door and into the rain towards the helicopter. As he got to within range he noticed the last man jump in and the helicopter rose into the sky and was gone. As the last man jumped into the helicopter Barras saw something very important. On that guys shoulder Barras saw a white mark. He knew instantly what that mark meant. It was the paw print of the Salvific Baboons.

:::Four days ago, several hundred miles east of Cana Prieta, above the high plains. A small Cessna flying south towards the Kimmeian Mountains.
Banton sat there in the plane, listening to the engine purr as they made their way to the mountain village of New Hope. He thought about the people down there and tried to put himself in their shoes. This far out into the frontiers most people didn’t go very far from where they lived. Distances were just too great and the towns were generally all the same. There was no real reason to leave when anywhere else was just more of the same.
He looked down at his shoulder and saw the white paw print that he wore on his jacket. He knew that someday his actions would help bring about great change in this world, but he also knew that it was all about the small steps. “Soon people would see what the Salvific Baboons stood for, and soon they would realize the corruptions that existed in the government”, he thought. “It wasn’t just AkebonoBambusa that was corrupt”, he said, “the corruption exists in all parts of the region and extends out into the world. It is just a matter of time.”
The pilot gave him the signal that meant that they were nearing their target of New Hope. This little village gave them a perfect chance to test their weapon. It is situated in a valley that for all purposes was closed in on all sides. It provided perfect containment. He reached into his bag and produced a small box on which was printed AkebonoBambusa University. He opened it and took out one of the little ampoules that was inside. He looked at it as this was the first time that he had actually held it in his hand. Inside was a clear liquid with some sediment on the bottom. On the side it said, “Lot #45, Francisella tularensis, Weaponized”. Banton remembered what the lab guy said. He said that it was something called Rabbit Fever. He was not very familiar with it but he wasn’t the studious type either. Soon the pilot gave the second signal that meant that they were directly over the village. Banton cracked the ampoule and loaded it into the aerosol generator. It was a small black box with an exhaust pipe that ran out the back of the plane. This was how it was to be delivered. He leaned toward the window so that he could see out the back. He saw the white contrail leave the plane and he had visions of the skywriters of old when he was a child. He was writing his own story now. This was the Salvific Baboons first civilian attack. “These people had done nothing”, he thought. Then his face turned towards anger. “And they would continue to do nothing either unless pushed!”
:::Today on ABBS News
Horatio Alger here in Cana Prieta. 350 miles east of here in the small mountain village of New Hope most of the inhabitants have fallen ill. It seems that there has been an outbreak of a rare bacteria called Francisella tularensis otherwise known as Rabbit Fever. The town has shut down and the AkebonoBambusan military has moved in to keep order. Scientists have confirmed that this is strain is from the Type A group. This particular strain is identical to a strain used by AkebonoBambusa University scientists in their experiments that took place in the lab where there was an explosion several weeks and several hundred miles away in Akebon. This is discouraging as it means that the same people responsible for that action is also responsible for all these sick people. The doctors do offer this as a ray of hope. This disease, even though it seems to have been bred to be used as a weapon, is rarely fatal. With that in mind though there have been 5 deaths so far but these were already immunocompromised individuals.

SETTING: Presidential Office, Masada Palace
[Secretary of State Hakim Zilativ enters the office]
President Vitaliz: What have you got for me?
Hakim Zilativ: Apparently, Mr. President, there is a terrorist group in AkebonoBambusa that has released a biological weapon on a small mountain village. The civilian casualty count is between 5-20 persons.
President Vitaliz: I see. What's the threat assessment?
Hakim Zilativ: It's too early to tell. But from the scope of the collateral damage, it seems to be minimal at best. We'll have intelligence gather information about this group as soon as possible. In the meantime, what would you like our government to do?
President Vitaliz: Call up Akebono and let him know that our government is willing to send in a medical-research unit from the ADC* to help control the outbreak.
Hakim Zilativ: Very good, Mr. President.

***A letter from Akebono to the Sovereign leader of Vitalinia
Thank you for your offer of help during these trying times. We have undergone a great ordeal in the past few weeks. As always any food or medicine that you could provide would be of help in situations such as this. My only wish is that my investigators could find any real proof into the identity of the criminals. I do want to assure you that in the case of the New Hope incident that it seems to be contained to the local vicinity. The town was remote enough for the disease to be easily contained.
Again I thank you for your help Akebono
