Setting- The court yard of the Royal Palace of Beejaya. The gates have been opened and people are standing within the courtyard with many more lined up along the street. Estimates that over 100,000 people or more are here for the speech. Along the walls of the Royal Palace stand The Beejayan Royal Guard, armed and ready for any trouble. However, they are there more for show then anything else. But their numbers can be seen along the walls, on the roofs of nearby buildings, and on the roof of the Royal Palace itself. In the distance the sound of attack helicopters hovering around the city can be heard. At the main balcony a huge flag of Beejaya is draped. As light snow begins to fall the crowd begins to sing nationalistic songs, plus some contemporary hits.
The Crowd cheers as the doors swing open. Out step some bodyguards, Duchess Celeya and other high ranking members step out before the Grand Duke does. The crowd erupts in cheers for several minutes before the Grand Duke beings his speech.
_______
Friends.... countrymen... Beejayans!
This has not been the easiest of years. Transitions within Beejaya can be seen everyday. The old order has been swept away to make room for the new. New friends have been made while old enemies do not seem to go away. Nevertheless, I am proud to stand up here as your Grand Duke and more so... as a Beejayan.
To long as it been since a Grand Duke has spoken to his people. To long has Beejaya suffered from mismanagement and corruption. To long has our future been squandered for the gains of others. To long has our liberty been jeopardized by those looking to appease others.
I am proud to announce to you new initiatives for Beejaya. Long have our people left our nation because opportunity drew them elsewhere. Education, jobs, security were better in other nations than they were in Beejaya. No more.
Today... every Beejayan is entitled to twenty years of free education in whatever area they wish. No Beejayan shall go uneducated unless they choose to be. In addition, any Beejayan who wants a job, will have one. If you can not find work in the private sector, then I beg you to work for the people by working within the government. Civil servants, military service, all of these are opportunities for you... for the people of Beejaya!
::The Grand Duke pauses as the crowd cheers Bee-jay-a.::
At this time, 75% of your taxes go into three of the most important things to Beejaya's future.
Defense....
Law and Order...
And Education...
Beejaya will be safe domestically and abroad. Beejaya will have a population of highly educated citizens.
There some here and a few elsewhere who do not approve of my style of governing. They would say that I should relinquish my control and allow a Prime Minister to take the helm of the country. The reaction of some to this criticism has ranged from immediate military action to ignoring their ignorance.
I however will do neither. To those who do not approve of this style of government, I simply point them to Beejaya history. I wish to return this country I love with all my heart to it's former glory. And it will not be done through elections. I love peace as much as I love this country. Beejayans are warlike, but we are warriors.
We fight for the things we love!
We fight for the things that are right!
And we fight for the things that are ours!
We are proud to be apart of the Sovereign Nations of Quagmire, and will fight for it's health! And Prosperity!
Long live BEEJAYA!
::The Crowd erupts in a deafening cheer of approval. The Grand Duke, along with his aides stand there looking over the crowd. Then in unison all standing on the balcony saluted the people and turned to head back into the Royal Palace::
